NEW YORK, April 13, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Voicenet, Inc. (OTCBB:VNET) announced today that it has obtained additional licensing rights for technology and products and extended its presence into the South American markets through Rimpex International, S.A. ("Rimpex"), a voice technology and systems company which was recently acquired by Voicenet (Aust) Ltd. ("VNA"), the majority owner of VNET. Under its agreement with VNA, Voicenet holds the exclusive rights to market voice technologies and products in North, Central and South America.

Rimpex, based in Santiago, Chile, has provided integrated solutions, applications, products and services to a broad range of clientele including Bell South, Coca - Cola, Nestle, CTC, Unilever, NCR, Philip Morris, Xerox and Johnson and Johnson. Rimpex has been operating for over 20 years and has a staff of 125 employees.

Rimpex has a strong voice recognition development capability and holds software licensing agreements with Lernout & Hauspie for Latin America and is well advanced in the delivery of e-commerce VR applications aimed at easing the facilitation of information in the global communications environment.

Frank Carr, Chairman of Voicenet stated "The application of Rimpex by our parent, will greatly enhance the suite of services Voicenet will be able to offer to our future customers. These suite of services fall under our overall licensing agreement with our parent and as such, did not require us to outlay any funds or issue any additional common stock in connection with the expansion of our service lines. Our ongoing business plan of bringing voice enabled applications solution to the telecommunications industry has taken a great stride forward in the market area we serve as a result of the Rimpex acquisition by our parent company. We believe that the Rimpex technology along with our existing technology base will expedite our goal in the delivery of an e-commerce VR application in today's global communication environment."
