Jaakko Pöyry Oy, which is a part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group, has been appointed main engineering consultant for the rebuild of PM8 at UPM-Kymmene Oyj’s Kymi Paper Oy mill at Kuusankoski. Jaakko Pöyry’s assignment, part of which will be carried out by JP-Engineering Oy, Kouvola and JP-Kakko Oy, consists of complete engineering services, including mechanical and structural engineering. The engineering contract value is about EUR 7.5 million.
The investment project comprises, in addition to the PM rebuild, a paper finishing line including a new coater and other paper finishing equipment.
Started up in 1983, PM8 will now be rebuilt to produce coated fine papers. At the same time its production capacity will be raised to about 400 000 tons a year.
The engineering assignment stems from UPM-Kymmene’s and Jaakko Pöyry’s longstanding co-operation in the implementation of engineering projects.
