WHAT: LAPD Chief Bernard Parks will announce the Department is accepting a new system to enhance its wireless communications capabilities across the City's 465 square-mile area. Media will be able to speak with representatives from Motorola and the LAPD to learn more about the sophisticated technology. An LAPD vehicle furnished with the new equipment will be available for viewing outside the auditorium. Motorola will be commended by the City for the upgrade completion of the mobile data terminal system, the second major component of the emergency command control communication system upgrade project initiated under Prop M.
