WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., April 17, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- fiberspace, Inc., an innovator in high performance laser sources for optical fiber communications, today announced two appointments to augment development and growth for the company. Patricia Wehr has joined the fiberspace management team as vice president of finance & administration. The company also said that Alan Willner, Ph.D., has joined the fiberspace Technical Advisory Board.
Wehr brings a 13-year career in finance and public accounting to fiberspace and most recently served as chief financial officer at Haskel International, Inc., a leading international manufacturer of high-pressure technology products. Previous to Haskel, Wehr served as an audit manager at Deloitte & Touche, LLP. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of California State University at Northridge, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
Dr. Leonardo Berezovsky, president and chief executive officer of fiberspace, said, "We are pleased that Patty Wehr has joined the fiberspace management team, adding to our management depth and contributing needed expertise in the financial arena. Patty has an outstanding track record in financial management that will assist us as we develop and deploy our products."
Dr. Alan Willner, the newest member of fiberspace's Technical Advisory Board, has a distinguished career in the fiber optic communications fields, both in academic and business roles. Dr. Willner is a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Southern California. Among his numerous awards and honors, he has been recognized with the Presidential Faculty Fellows Award from the White House and the David and Lucille Packard Foundation Fellowship in Science and Engineering.
Dr. Berezovsky added, "Professor Willner is a valued addition to our Technical Advisory Board. His extensive experience will be a significant asset for fiberspace, and we are pleased to have him as a member of our extended team."
Other members of the fiberspace Technical Advisory Board include, Dr. Daniel Renner, vice president engineering, Agility Communications and Dr. Nevan Karlovac, currently chief technology officer of Aprisa and former chief operating officer of Alcatel Network Systems.
