LAS VEGAS, July 9, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- PurchasePro (Nasdaq:PPRO), today announced that it will produce a monthly microeconomic report indicating purchasing trends through reverse auctions, based on its newly launched, broadly used and highly successful e-Source purchasing solution.
In the month ended June 30, 2001, PurchasePro reported that 95 reverse auctions were conducted through e-Source, its strategic sourcing product, by nine buyers, including six Fortune 500 companies, one Global 500 company and one S&P 500 company, attracting 2,162 bids from 509 suppliers. Low bids totaled $15,560,693 with opening or high bids totaling $33,152,733. The market spread between total low and high bids was $16,591,770.
PurchasePro's e-Source product allows qualified suppliers to bid for a buyer's business in real-time over the Internet. e-Source enables buyers to create and send electronic requests for information (RFI) and requests for quotes (RFQ), enhance supplier collaboration, determine auction times, resolve logistics, source from their existing suppliers as well as the PurchasePro global marketplace of more than 155,000 businesses, and conduct real-time auctions from their desktops. Other features of the product include support for closed bidding, sealed bids and absentee bidding.
