Elekta Receives Orders For Leksell Gamma Knife Valued at SEK 95 Million


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 9, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Elekta has signed agreements to deliver Leksell Gamma Knife(r) equipment to the U.S., Europe and Asia. The agreements include delivery of Leksell Gamma Knife equipment and reloads of existing installations. The total order value is approximately SEK 95 M. Most of the deliveries are planned for fiscal year 2001/2002.

"The order development for Leksell Gamma Knife is still looking good, particularly in the U.S. An essential reason for this is the success we have had with our new generation, Leksell Gamma Knife C," said Tomas Puusepp, responsible for Elekta's neurosurgery business.

"Both the number of orders for new installations and upgrades of existing systems have increased substantially," ended Tomas Puusepp.

At the end of June 2001 totally 155 Leksell Gamma Knife units were installed worldwide.
