FEDERAL WAY, Wash., Sept. 26, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Unity Wireless Corporation (OTCBB:UTYW), a leading provider of innovative high performance RF power amplifiers to the wireless industry, today announced the addition of several new members to the Company's Engineering and Sales Groups, in addition to the expansion of the Company's manufacturing facilities and investment in specialized research & development test equipment, in response to the increased volume of new product sales and inquiries.
With the increase of customer inquiries and orders by new and existing customers being generated through the sales and marketing efforts of the Company and its global distributors, the recent additions to the engineering, sales, and operations groups, increases Unity's employee base by 60%, since the beginning of 2001, to 47.
In part, these additions have allowed the Company to initiate the 30 plus new projects currently in development. Of those 30 projects, 10 new RF power amplifier products have been designed and manufactured with samples delivered to potential customers for evaluation, testing and acceptance.
Notable among the recent additions are Mr. Nart Bajj and Mr. CK Wong. Mr. Bajj joins the engineering group as a Senior Design Engineer and Mr. Wong joins the sales and marketing group as the Company's first dedicated Sales Engineer.
Mr. Bajj joins the Company from Norsat International Inc. where he held the positions of Microwave Design Manager, Team Leader and RF/Microwave Design Engineer and brings strong research and industrial experience in RF design for both wireless and microwave applications. Previous to Norsat, Mr. Bajj also held a RF design engineer position with ADC Wireless Systems. Mr. Bajj holds a Ph.D. in Mobile Radio Channel Characterization and a M.Sc. in Communications Engineering and Digital Electronics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
Mr. Wong brings over 10 years experience in telecommunications, networking and wireless technology experience to the Company's sales and marketing group. Prior to joining Unity Wireless, he lectured on telecommunications and wireless technologies at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Previously he held the position of Applications Engineer for Glenayre Technologies where he was responsible for systems engineering their wireless messaging products and deployment of paging system projects for their international customers. Mr. Wong holds a M.Sc. in Digital Communications and a B.Sc. in Electronics.
Furthermore, increased sales and design of new products required the Company to significantly expand its manufacturing capacity. Re-configuring existing space at the Company's facility has expanded manufacturing floor space by 40% and in conjunction with new research and test equipment obtained in the last several months, has increased production capacity to accommodate up to 200 amplifiers per day.
