FAIRLESS HILLS, Pa., Oct. 29, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Digital Descriptor Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:DDSI) a leading designer and marketer of digitized imaging systems and biometric identification solutions for the criminal justice and security markets, today announced the availability of its new "Identify On Demand" secure ID product, an ID System for the commercial market developed from and installed in many criminal justice jurisdictions.
Digital Descriptor Chairman and CEO Mr. Garrett U. Cohn commented on the news, "This is the first ID solution for the commercial market DDSI has ever modeled after our widely sold criminal justice product's. Since September 11, we've had numerous requests for a secure biometric ID application to be used in buildings, small airports, offices, factories, apartments etc., in order to identify and verify individuals. Our new turnkey "Identify on Demand" system provides for a PVC card with three or four lines of descriptive data, a full color photo, and options for fingerprints, signature, magnetic stripe or barcode applications. "Identify on Demand" is expandable to include fingerprint matching, use as an access control card, as well as the ability to integrate data and images to other software."
Prior to September 11, industry analysts were projecting the total biometric industry (commercial and government) to grow from the $166.6 million recorded in 1999 to more then $1.8 billion by 2004 with the fingerprint being the largest biometric, based on market share. "The commercial ID market has similar requirements as the criminal justice market, but the criminal justice market has higher technical needs than most other types of commercial biometric systems. Ease of use has been DDSI's hallmark in the past and the new "Identify on Demand" system fits that description and can be installed in as few as 2 days," Mr. Cohn concluded.
