Capio Diagnostics Takes Over Mammography Screening Operations at Sodra Alvsborg


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 21, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Capio Diagnostics has signed a contract with Vastra Gotaland region regarding mammography screening and clinical mammography in Sodra Alvsborg. The contract, which will extend from April 1, 2002 to December 31, 2006, will generate annual revenues of approximately SEK 12 M for Capio.

The mammography screening program means that a total of approximately 12,000-13,000 women in the 48-69 age category in Sodra Alvsborg will be provided with regular health checks. It is estimated that in a couple of years' time, it will be possible to also provide women between the ages of 45 and 47 with mammography examinations. This means that it will then be possible to offer this form of health check to a total of around 18,000-19,000 women.

The above age categories will be given the opportunity to undergo mammography examinations every second year. Commencing in 2003, it will be possible to make this offer based on a reduced interval of 21 months.

The mammography operations in Sodra Alvsborg will be conducted via Capio's diagnostic radiology operations at hospitals in Boras, Skene and Alingsas.
