Volvo Construction Equipment is Largest Exhibitor at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2002

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 22, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Volvo (Nasdaq:VOLVY):

Volvo Construction Equipment will occupy nearly 3 250 m-squared (35,000 square feet) of exhibit space at North America's largest construction equipment trade show, CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2002, to be held from 19 to 23 March 2002, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. New products and equipment models will be introduced to an expected 135 000 visitors from the worldwide construction equipment market.

Volvo Construction Equipment, one of the world's most important manufacturers of construction equipment, will be the largest exhibitor at this international equipment exhibition. 32 Volvo machines will be on display at Exhibit Space N-1441 in the Convention Center's North Hall.

All product groups in Volvo Construction Equipment's comprehensive range of equipment will be represented in the exhibition - wheel loaders, articulated haulers, motor graders, excavators and compact construction equipment. To create a unique, interesting and appealing display, the exhibit space has been divided into segments for specific industry operations - waste & demolition, utility, highway/civil engineering, general construction, and aggregate/quarry. Positioning of the equipment in these segments shows specific product application functions. Included in the display will be two VHD 64B Volvo industrial trucks.

New Products, New Models Will be Introduced

Volvo Construction Equipment will introduce new models in most of its product lines and two brand new products at ConExpo. The company will showcase the latest members of its D-series articulated haulers - the Volvo A25D and A30D - and the new B-series of Volvo hydraulic excavators, ranging from the Volvo EC240B through the Volvo EC460B. Also to be introduced at the exhibition will be new Volvo E-series wheel loaders - the Volvo L120E, Volvo L150E, Volvo L180E and the Volvo L330E. The Volvo L220E had already been launched at BAUMA in April 2001.

In December of 2001, Volvo CE announced the production of its new Volvo backhoe loader. This machine is the result of a close cooperation between backhoe users and customers from various countries and backgrounds, who played an important role in helping Volvo to define the machine's specifications, and a highly experienced team of engineers and marketing specialists. The Volvo backhoe loader is a greatly anticipated addition to the company's extensive line of construction equipment. It will occupy a special position within the company's ConExpo exhibit space and will be the subject of major attention at the show.

Volvo Construction Equipment also recently announced the acquisition of the assets of Scat Trak, the skidsteer loader business of Textron's subsidiary, OmniQuip. Those assets include manufacturing and product design rights and a complete range of 5 different skidsteers. The product range will be further developed and launched globally under the Volvo brand in late 2002. The product will be shown at ConExpo with the Volvo brand.

This acquisition and the development of the Volvo backhoe add important product lines to Volvo CE's compact construction equipment product offering and will strongly reinforce the company's recently launched rental initiative. Computer stations will be set up throughout the exhibit to provide visitors with instant product and service information.

The building will also contain an on-stand theatre where visitors will experience an exciting and entertaining film that creates a totally new dimension of Volvo Construction Equipment.
