LINKOPING, Sweden, Jan. 31, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Tommy Waszkiewicz has been named President of Sectra Communications AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish company Sectra AB in Linkoping. He assumes his position on February 1, 2002.
Tommy Waszkiewicz, 38 years of age, is a graduate engineer from Linkoping Technical University and with an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics. He has worked in the Sectra Group since 1990. During the past year, he worked as a business development manager within medical communications. Tommy Waszkiewicz has also worked previously as product manager for Sectra Tiger(r) and project manager for some of Sectra's major projects in the area of eavesdrop-secure communication systems.
Per Unell, currently President of Sectra Communications, will assist his successor during a transition period before pursuing other business interests.
Sectra Communications AB develops and sells secure mobile communications systems and high-speed encryption for data and telecom lines. Customers include the armed forces, public authorities and companies that process qualified, confidential or sensitive information. One of the company's products is the eavesdrop-secure Sectra Tiger(r) GSM telephone, initially developed for the Swedish Defence. The telephone has achieved an international breakthrough in the past year and is used by the Swedish, Norweigan and German military authorities.
Sectra's operations Sectra has its roots in Linkoping Technical University and is one of Sweden's fastest growing high-tech companies in the IT area. Since the mid-1980s, Sectra has successfully conducted development and sales of high-technology medical IT and telecommunications products. Today, the business includes products in medical systems, secure communication systems and wireless information systems.
Sectra's secure communications business is conducted in Sectra Communications AB, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sectra AB.
Business is conducted in six countries with a total of 218 employees. Sales for the fiscal year May 2000-April 2001 reached SEK 292 million. Since March 1999, Sectra's shares have been quoted on the O list of the Stockholm Exchange.
