STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 7, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Today, the Swedish county administrative court announced its verdict regarding Telia's appeal of a decision made by the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) on August 31, 2000, in which the PTS ruled that the so-called cascaded accounting method should be applied to determine interconnection charges for traffic transmitted over Telia's network to and from other operators.
The court rejected Telia's appeal, stating that the cascaded accounting method is the model that has to be applied.
Telia is against use of the model since it would mean that Telia would be obligated to pay Tele2 for traffic that it handles on behalf of other operators to Tele2's network, without the certainty that Telia would be able to receive payment for such service from the other operators.
Telia will appeal the court's decision.
