ROSH PINA, Israel, March 11, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- OTI (GER:OT5) announced today that it has been awarded a major tender as the exclusive provider of contactless smart card-based readers for the Israeli government to provide secured access control. Volumes for the award are estimated at US$1.5 million. As a result of the award, the microprocessor-based contactless smart card readers developed by OTI will form the standard infrastructure for contactless smart card readers secured access control of the Israeli government. The first implementation will encompass current access control systems for government ministries and offices. Additional governmental institutes are expected to implement this platform as well.
OTI was chosen by the Israeli government for its access control secured platform on which to implement an access control solution. The tender sets OTI as the exclusive provider for contactless smart card readers in government ministries and offices. This is another significant stage in the massive deployment of OTI's technology infrastructure in Israel.
