Share trading

The average share trading turnover per business day amounted to SEK 14 022 million during March (during the past 12-month period: 14 705). In February 2002 the average share trading turnover per business day amounted to SEK 13 677 million. The average number of closed transactions per business day has been 35 883 during March (during the past 12-month period: 39 211).

The turnover rate during March was 127% (during the past 12-month period: 132%).

Derivative trading

Average derivative trading turnover (Swedish share and interest-rate related contracts) amounted during March to 258 784 contracts (during the past 12-month period 254 945) per business day. The average derivative trading turnover amounted during February to 249 170 per business day. The average number of contracts in share-related derivative products amounted during March to 230 382 contracts (during the past 12-month period 226 418) per business day, while the average number of contracts in interest-rate related derivative products amounted during March to 28 403 contracts (during the past 12-month period 28 527) per business day.

The total value of trade in stock options amounted for March to SEK 92,4 (during the past 12-month 124,6) million per day. The total value of trade in stocks options amounted for February to SEK 128.4 million per day.

Index developments

The OMX index increased during March by 1.9% and closed on 798.6 (February 28, 2002: 783.6). The Benchmark index closed on 263.8 as of March 28 (February 28, 2002: 258.4), which is an increase of 2.1%. The SX All-share index (the SAX index) closed on 232.0 (February 28, 2002: 226.6), which corresponds to an increase of 2.4% during the month.

The Energy Index increased most during the month and closed on 213.5 (February 28, 2002: 192.4), which is an increase of 11.0%. The Health Care Index decreased most during the month and closed on 233.6 (February 28, 2002: 237.4), which is a decrease of 1.6%.

Listed companies

During March, one company has been delisted from the O-list. The number of listed companies on Stockholmsborsen amounts to 299, of which 69 are listed on the A-list and 230 on the O-list. Total market value for the companies on the A-list amounts to SEK 2 221 billion, and on the O-list to SEK 521 billion. Total market value thereby amounted to SEK 2 748 billion as of March 28, 2002 (February 28, 2002: 2 677).
