LINKOPING, Sweden, June 10, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sectra has secured a contract from the Swedish Defense Forces to produce equipment to ensure secure transmission of voice, data and video at high speeds. The new product is a further development of high-speed encryption that Sectra has developed earlier. The order is valued at slightly more than SEK 6 million.
"The project involves an adaptation to future demands for more rapid communications connections," said Tommy Waszkiewicz, President of Sectra Communications AB. "We are pleased to be entrusted to participate in the development of systems for the Swedish network-based defense of the future."
With the new product, the Swedish defense authorities will be able to handle sensitive information over 622 Mbit/s connections with encryption device for 155 Mbit/s. The order involves further development of the FKK 520 high-speed encryption device that is now a standard product in the Swedish Defense network. The development project is expected to continue until the spring of 2003.
Sectra Communications AB develops and markets eavesdrop-secure mobile communications systems and high-speed encryption used in telecommunications and data lines. Customers include defense forces and authorities with advanced demands for secure communications. Sectra's eavesdrop-secure GSM telephone, which is approved for secret communications within NATO, has recorded international successes in the form of orders received from such NATO members as Norway and Germany.
