LINKOPING, Sweden, June 25, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sectra's joint venture company in Finland, Commit; Oy, has received an order for digital radiology systems from the Finnish Kuopio University Hospital. The order, which includes Sectra's PACS (picture archiving and communication system) and Commit; RIS (radiology information system), amounts to approximately USD 1.7 Million.
"Many Finnish hospitals are now digitizing their radiology departments and the order from Kuopio is important also for future reference", said Eero Aarnio, Vice President of Commit; Oy.
The radiology department at Kuopio University Hospital performs approximately 70.000 examinations annually. The number of examinations will increase to 250.000 examinations per year when the whole hospital district is connected to the system, which will happen over a three-year period. Installation of Sectra's PACS will be made by Commit; Oy and is scheduled to start in the summer of 2002.
