STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 19, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- At the Annual General Meeting of ForeningsSparbanken (Swedbank) on April 10, 2003, Goran Collert will step down as Chairman of ForeningsSparbanken. At the same time, at the suggestion of the Nominating Committee, he will be appointed Honorary Chairman. The Nominating Committee has unanimously chosen Carl Eric Stalberg, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank, as his successor. Stalberg's nomination has the support of all major shareholders.
Carl Eric Stalberg will serve as Executive Chairman. He is therefore leaving his current position as President and CEO of JM AB on January 1, at which time he will join the bank as Executive Vice Chairman of the Bank.
Born in 1951, Carl Eric Stalberg held various leading positions with Sweden's savings banks during the years 1975 - 1996, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Sparbanken Sverige, where he was responsible for its successful initial public offering.
Goran Collert will serve as an advisor to the new Chairman on issues involving the market, alliances and international contacts.
