SOLNA, Sweden, Nov. 4, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- NCC (Stockholm:NCCa) has been commissioned by the National Road Administration's Northern Region to rebuild the section of the E4 highway between Kage and Byske, just north of Skelleftea, northern Sweden. The order is worth approximately SEK 130 million.
The assignment pertains to an approximately 16-kilometer section between Kage and Byske. The section will be designed as a 2+2-lane highway divided by a central reverse/guardrail. The final stretch towards Byske will be constructed in the form of a 2+1-lane highway divided by a central guardrail. The existing nine-meter-wide section of the E4 will be retained, alongside which a new eight-meter-wide stretch will be built. The assignment includes construction of three grade-separated junctions, seven concrete bridges, a wooden bridge and a pipe bridge. The contract also involves construction of road fences, road lighting at intersections and guardrails.
A total of about 40 employees will be engaged in the project. The project is scheduled for completion in September 2004.
"We're pleased to have been commissioned to improve this section of the E4. It's an important assignment, not least from the viewpoint of road safety," said Kent Jonsson, Business Manager at NCC Construction Sweden in Skelleftea.
