DUBLIN, Ireland, Nov. 5, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. (AIB) (NYSE:AIB) has appointed Shom Bhattacharya to the post of Chief Risk Officer for the Group.
Mr Bhattacharya will report directly to AIB Group Chief Executive, Michael Buckley, and will be responsible for risk management strategy development and implementation Groupwide. He will also be a member of the AIB Group Executive Committee, the team responsible for setting Corporate strategy and overseeing the management of AIB Group.
Mr Bhattacharya, 51, joins AIB from the JP Morgan Private Bank where he was Managing Director/Global Head of Lending, Risk Management and Control. Prior to joining JP Morgan, Mr Bhattacharya was with Chemical Bank for 15 years where he held senior positions in Corporate Banking and Corporate Finance.
He takes up his role with AIB on 2 December 2002.
