STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Dec. 9, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Internet Professional Publishers Association (IPPA) has selected Framfab (Stockholm:FRAM) among the winners of its 2002 Design Excellence Annual Awards.
According to the IPPA, Framfab has made a major breakthrough by so stunningly and practically combining real-time 3D with Internet technology. Framfab has won second prize for its Volvo 3D truck Configurator Website on the basis of design quality, unique user experience and Internet promotion value.
With more than 14,000 members, the IPPA is a leading web design organization. Among the jury's comments are as follows:
"As far as online promotional Websites go, Framfab has outdone themselves -- everywhere you look, you are surprised at what they have achieved."
"In fact, with such a well-designed interface surrounding the Viewpoint tool, they have broken new ground, finally achieving a true 3D world through the Internet -- a dimensionality that seems so natural but is so difficult to achieve."
The entire jury statement is available at www.ippa.org.
Volvo 3D Truck Configurator gives visitors the ability to equip truck models with accessories, both inside and outside the cab. While viewing a 3D image of the mounted accessories, a visitor can interactively choose viewing angle and color, as well as continuously zoom in and out.
Eva Carlstrom, Manager for Internet Operations at Volvo Trucks, said, "This is a useful and practical service for our customers, as well as part of our own promotional effort. It's very important to continually exploit the advances of modern technology."
The winning Website, which has been highly popular ever since its launch, is now available in 20 languages.
