MALMO, Sweden, Jan. 21, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teleca (Stockholm:TELCb) has been commissioned by the region of Vastra Gotaland (VGR) in Sweden to produce an integrated ambulance logging system for the whole region. The project will last for 3 years, after which it may be extended. The total value of the order is more than SEK 10 M.
VGR is one of the first local government authorities to take a comprehensive, unified approach to the entire area of ambulance information systems. The solution will make daily routines both easier and more efficient.
The proposed solution includes the AmbuLink ambulance log system from Zait AB, which has previously been delivered to the local authority of North Bothnia (Norrbotten) in the north of Sweden. Teleca is responsible for ensuring that the mobile part of the system provides optimal support to the day-to-day running of the service. Ambulances will be equipped with mobile units and hand-held computers to increase the level of on-scene assistance available.
"The contract will give our solution a strong position in the market. Together with Teleca we've shown that we offer a solution that appeals to a large and demanding customer," said Anders Dahlgren, head of marketing at Zait.
"Teleca's leading position in mobile communications and Zait's many years of experience in the healthcare sector were both important factors in our choice of partner. The collaboration between the two companies is seen as very fruitful," said Bengt Petersson at VGR.
"Many other local authorities have needs similar to those of VGR regarding improving their ambulance information systems and making them more efficient. The VGR contract therefore opens the way to more business," said Christer Boklund, head of business management at Teleca AU-System AB.
