Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to Appear on Music Choice Concert Series

The Music Choice Concert Featuring Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to Air in Over 25 Million Cable Homes

HORSHAM, Pa., Jan. 22, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Music Choice, the largest provider of commercial-free digital music via cable and satellite, and distributor of an exclusive Concert Series through a nationwide network of cable systems, today announced that a special TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS performance will be featured on the Music Choice Concert Series from January 27 through February 9. The Music Choice Concert Series showcases a wide range of artists and musical formats in a 60-minute show with live performances and interview segments, reaching over 25 million cable households.

The concert is an intimate in-studio performance of seven songs from the current album, THE LAST DJ, including the title track, "Have Love Will Travel," "Dreamville," "Joe," "Money Becomes King," and "Lost Children". Two songs, "Like a Diamond" and "Can't Stop the Sun," are from the concert at The Grand Olympic Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles in which Tom Petty and the group -- Mike Campbell (guitars), Benmont Tench (keyboards) and returning original Heartbreakers' bassist Ron Blair, as well as longtime associates Scott Thurston (guitars, harmonica, backing vocals) and Steve Ferrone (drums) -- are backed by a 40-piece orchestra conducted by Jon Brion. The concert also includes an interview with Tom Petty that is interwoven within the mix of studio and live concert footage.

The critically hailed THE LAST DJ album -- produced by Petty along with George Drakoulias and Campbell -- opens up another new chapter for a group whose body of work spans three decades. Not many artists can match the band's record of more than 25 years of commercial success, along with a simultaneous period of creative growth and critical acclaim.

The Music Choice Concert featuring TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS will air between January 27 and February 9 in over 25 million cable homes nationally. Check http://www.musicchoice.com or contact your local cable company for specific concert times.
