Scandiaconsult Manages Construction of New Opera House in Oslo


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 4, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scandiaconsult has been awarded yet another major contract by the Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property for the planned opera house in central Oslo.

The contract sum is about SEK 30 million and comprises construction management, co-ordination and operational planning.

"This is a prestigious assignment for us," says Jan Ove Holmen, the managing director of Scandiaconsult in Norway. "We were awarded the highest total number of points in the tendering process, which took our understanding of the assignment, competence and references into account."

The Norwegian Directorate is going to build a new modern opera house in Bjoervika in Oslo at an estimated cost of SEK 4 billion. The construction work will start in February 2003 and is estimated to take five years.

Scandiaconsult has previously been awarded contracts for the construction of the opera house in Oslo together with NovoScen AB regarding technical solutions for changing scenery. This means that the Opera House in Oslo, due to open in 2008, will have the most modern stage machinery in the world.

The assignments are managed by Scandiaconsult's offices in Oslo and Goteborg.
