OMAHA, Neb., Feb.4, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Adesta LLC, a leading systems integrator for communications networks, electronic security systems, and intelligent transportation systems will continue to provide ongoing operations, maintenance, and help desk support for the Connecticut Telecommunications System. Adesta's staff has operated and maintained the network for the past six years. Adesta's contract with the state of Connecticut, scheduled to expire at the end of 2002, has been extended for an additional 12 months.
"Outsourcing the 24x7x365 job to Adesta helps the state save money and provides flexibility to upgrade or fine-tune the system within the cost of the maintenance contract," according to project manager, Rick Murray. Adesta designed and installed the current digital network, which supports a statewide mobile-radio system, and internal voice, video, and data communications, providing a substantial savings over a leased network. An emergency and disaster recovery system is included.

"We believe our network increases the safety of the statewide population and helps to protect state troopers in the field."
Connecticut Public Safety officials and state legislators abandoned leased lines and an aging infrastructure in 1996 to pioneer the first digital communications network in the nation exclusively devoted to public safety. Specifications include a sixty-two-site digital microwave backbone, supporting the 800 MHz radio, emergency telephone, and satellite uplink restoration systems.
Connecticut has been a leader in technology applied to public safety since 1940, when state police installed the nation's first FM two-way radio system.
