GOTHENBURG, Sweden, March 7, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Capio Diagnostik has signed a new four-year radiology agreement with the Vastra Gotaland region of Sweden (VGR), commencing in September this year. The agreement will lead to sharply increased volumes within mammography and other diagnostic areas.
The agreement is for a period of four years, with an option to extend for an additional year. The agreement becomes effective on September 1, 2003.
The agreement will result in significantly increased volumes within Capio's conventional radiology, mammography, computerised tomography (CT) and ultrasound. The volume of examinations covered by the agreement will increase from the present level of approximately 34,000 to 63,000 per year. This means that Capio Diagnostik will account for more than 75 per cent of purchased radiology operations in the Gothenburg area. The operations will be based on Capio Diagnostik radiology activities at Lundby Hospital in Gothenburg and will also result in the establishment of a new clinic in central Gothenburg.
"We will be assigned increased responsibility for radiology operations in Gothenburg and regard this as a sound acknowledgement of the quality and service of the diagnostic care we have provided during our many years of cooperation with the region. Our operations at Lundby Hospital in Gothenburg are highly successful and will now be further developed to provide patients with the best possible service," said Dan Olsson, Managing Director of Capio Diagnostik AB.
Capio Diagnostik AB is part of the Capio Group's Diagnostics Business Area, which is represented in six countries and has revenues of more than SEK 1,000 M per year. Capio Diagnostik in Sweden has annual revenues of approximately SEK 600 M.
