MOUTAIN VIEW, Calif. - (March 31, 2003) - Nokia (NYSE:NOK) today announced its Virtual Private Network (VPN) appliance running VPN-1Ò software from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP) has been selected as a winner in the VPN category for the 2003 Information Security Excellence Awards. The magazine asked its subscribers to indicate the products they use and then rate them on a scale of 1 to 5. The winners were announced at an awards luncheon during MIS Training Institute's InfoSec World Conference & Expo 2003 in Orlando, FL on March 10th, attended by approximately 1,500 of security professionals and practitioners.
"Nokia is honored to be selected as the best VPN appliance by Information Security subscribers," said Dan MacDonald, vice president of product management and marketing, Nokia Internet Communications. "Infosecurity professionals have literally thousands of technologies and products to choose from. Those selected by our readers for an Excellence Award represent the best of breed in real-world enterprise security environments," said Andrew Briney, editor-in-chief of Information Security.
"The information security industry is playing an increasingly critical role in the overall IT strategy of all organizations and is producing some of the most cutting edge and important tools used today" said Timothy Garon, publisher of Information Security. "We commend the winners for their excellent work. They are examples of why infosecurity is the leading concern of corporations and businesses worldwide."
Nokia's VPN appliance is pre-configured, pre-tested and designed to enable corporations to connect offices, business partners and remote employees with complete security. The Nokia VPN is a purpose-built appliance, tightly integrated with Check Point VPN-1, and featuring the Nokia hardened Operating System, IPSO.
