LUND, Sweden, April 3, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Anoto (Other OTC:AOTOF) and a leading system provider have signed a license agreement to create opportunities for new services enabling Anoto functionality.
"We have stated that one of our goals for the first quarter is to establish a commercial agreement with a leading system provider, comparable to our partnership with Hitachi. This goal is now reached. The company is a world-leader in a number of industrial and IT segments. Its global presence makes this partnership highly valuable for Anoto. On request by the partner, the name of the company will for the time being not be disclosed for reasons of confidentiality and competition," said Christer Fahraeus, CEO, Anoto Group.
The system will be based on the EPLS infrastructure * in combination with proprietary software and hardware developed by the partner. Revenues for Anoto will be composed of royalties based on transactions, license revenues generated by EPLS sales, royalties pertaining to pen sales and NRE (Non-refundable Engineering Charges). As yet it is too early to communicate the total value of this agreement.
Anoto functionality unites the intuitiveness of pen and paper with the possibilities that digital communication offers. With Anoto functionality you can send whatever you write or draw directly to your personal computer, or send your handwritten notes or images directly from paper via a mobile phone to any personal computer, mobile phone or information bank in the world.
Anoto is first to establish a high-technology concept based and adapted on how people actually work with pen and paper, meaning that you don't have to change your natural behavior or learn a new way of working.
With Anoto functionality you can digitally store information written with pen and paper, offering enormous possibilities for improved efficiency and increased usability within, for instance, personal communication, forms processing and everyday paper-based information.
-- EPLS = Enterprise Paper Look-Up Service is a further development of Paper Look- Up Service, an infrastructure for enterprise intranets. The new product enables customers to develop customized intranet pen and paper based applications enabling Anoto functionality.
