MALMO, Sweden, June 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teleca and Dornier Consulting have jointly developed a so- called business package for Maybach, DaimlerChrysler's most exclusive car marque. The solution enables passengers to use the cars as mobile offices by means of a Bluetooth network that connects portable computers, printers, mobile phones and other devices.
Teleca has been responsible for developing the necessary software and the connections between the cars' integrated personal computers and mobile phones. Dornier Consulting has been responsible for developing the concept, testing and in- car integration.
In addition to the usual functions found in Microsoft Outlook the new solution also enables users to make and receive voice calls. This has been made possible by using a so-called phone access profile in the Bluetooth standard, together with specific software for handling voice calls.
"We started working with Teleca during 2001 in connection with the start of this project. Teleca has the expertise required to handle the highly complex work involved in building a flexible wireless network in such a difficult environment as a car. Our collaboration has been very successful so far, and we're looking forward to new joint projects," said Heiner Schmeck, Head of Dornier Consulting Automotive Systems.
"Superior quality and complete functionality are very important to Maybach, and we're very proud to have been chosen for this prestigious project together with Dornier. We see our partnership leading to great opportunities for future projects in the vehicle industry," said Christer Bjork, Managing Director of Teleca Software Solution.
