ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Document Security Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:DCSS) announced today that it has received written notice from the State of Indiana that its new Safety Paper Plus (tm) product has been approved for prescriptions for controlled substances.
"This announcement will hopefully be one of many," said Patrick White, President and Chief Executive Officer, Document Security Systems, Inc. "We have sent samples of our newest anti-counterfeiting product Safety Paper Plus (tm) to the other 15 mandated states for evaluation."
The Indiana Health Professions Bureau requires that health professionals writing prescriptions utilize security paper to prevent forgeries and copying. With this approval, DCSS' Safety Paper Plus (tm) is now on an approved list which may be utilized for this purpose. Health professionals throughout the State of Indiana, including chiropractors, dietitians, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, veterinarians, optometrists, physicians and physical therapists will receive notification that Document Security Systems is now on an approved list of suppliers for safety paper to meet these regulations.
"Our new Safety Paper Plus (tm) was developed (patent applied for) only 5 short months ago to address the newer digital copier models which scan documents rather then photo copy originals," said White. "We believe that Thomas Wicker, our VP of Research and Development, has now produced the most powerful warning word anti-counterfeiting paper ever created. The more sophisticated the copier the more evident our warning words become. Besides prescription protection, this security paper can be used to protect checks, coupons, gift certificates, school transcripts, legal forms, proposals, original music, examinations, operating manuals, business plans, customer lists, schematics, tickets and even retail receipts."
Document Security Systems, Inc. sells its regular Safety Paper on its website located at www.safetypaper.com. The new Safety Paper Plus (tm) will be sold directly by company sales personnel.
Document Security Systems, Inc. is a technology company with patents in printed security features, which prevent forgery, duplication, counterfeiting, copying, scanning and re-imaging for any type of printed documents, labels or packaging.
