ATLANTA, Aug. 15, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- advanCES 2003, a premier event for executives and engineers in the electrical utility industry, will be hosted this year by Pepco in Washington, D.C., Oct. 26-29. The conference will draw delegates from more than 60 industry companies.
This year's conference will feature an industry trends panel on distribution security, user workshops focused on outage response, and case studies and presentations on emergency response and cyber security at utilities.
"In the wake of yesterday's unprecedented power outages, our topic is more relevant than ever," said Don McDonnell, chief marketing officer of CES International. "The power outages and the response to those outages will no doubt be a large part of the conversations at advanCES."
CES International produces the annual advanCES conference, now in its fifth year, in conjunction with its Centricity customer advisory group. This year's conference features a keynote address from Peter LaPorte, director of the District of Columbia Emergency Management Agency, who will address delegates Oct. 27.
Other speakers and panelists include Jon Arnold, editor-in-chief of Platts' Energy Business & Technology magazine; Joe Weiss of KEMA; and Stanley Wisniewski, vice president of operations at Pepco.
CES International partner sponsors of the conference include Convergent Group, ESRI, HP, IBM, JCMB, KEMA and MDSI.
