IRVING, Texas and ALISO VIEJO, Calif., August 28, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Blade Systems Alliance and QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC) today announced that Skip Jones, director of planning and technology for QLogic, has joined the executive board of the Blade Systems Alliance.

IDC forecasts the blade server market to reach two million units and be worth $2.1 billion in 2005. The Blade Systems Alliance (formerly Server Blade Trade Association) was formed in 2002 to develop standards and promote the adoption of blade servers. The Blade Systems Alliance includes more than 30 blade server end-user, systems, software, component and consulting companies, and the Blade Systems Alliance Council of End Users includes representatives from more than 20 information technology organizations at leading companies.
