WHAT: Philadelphia's Labor Force and their Families get into the scene on Labor Day with the Philadelphia's AFL-CIO Labor Day Celebration at Penn's Landing. The public is invited to view the parade and attend the festival. WHEN: Philadelphia's AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade and Family Festival and WHERE: Monday, September 1, 2003 9 AM - 10 AM Parade Staging Area, Sheet Metal Workers International Association - Local 19, 1301 S Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 10 AM - Noon Parade - Parade Route: South Columbus Boulevard from Washington Avenue to Spring Garden Street. Noon - 4 PM AFL-CIO Family Festival at Penn's Landing Festival Pier Columbus Boulevard and Spring Garden Streets. Festivals activities: Face painting, make and take crafts, pony rides, caricatures, kids rides and Zoo on Wheels. Invited Dignitaries scheduled to make a presentation at 1pm: Mayor John Street, Congressman Robert Brady and City of Philadelphia - City Controller Jonathan Saidel. DETAILS: The AFL-CIO, the federation of America's Unions, includes more than 13 million of America's workers in 65 member unions working in virtually every part of the economy. There are 109 unions in the Philadelphia Council of the AFL-CIO. There will be close to 50 unions participating in the parade and the festival, which will be close to 7,000- 10,000 marchers.
