Micronic Receives an Order for an Advanced Laser Pattern Generator for Display Applications

TABY, Sweden, Sept. 1, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Micronic Laser Systems AB (Other OTC:MICLF) (Stockholmsborsen's Attract 40: MICR), a leading manufacturer of laser pattern generation equipment to the display and semiconductor industries, today announced that it has received an order for an LRS11000-TFT3 system from Asia. The order is scheduled for delivery during the fourth quarter of this year.

The system will be used to produce state-of-the-art TFT-LCD photomasks. The LRS11000-TFT3, introdu-ced in April, provides the sub-micron resolution needed to produce advanced gray tone photomasks, as well as those used for large area, low temperature poly silicon (LTPS) TFT-LCDs. This is the second LRS11000-TFT3 order Micronic has received in the past two months; the other order was announced in June.

"Recent orders for the LRS11000-TFT3 confirm that the tool meets the tough and ever increasing demands for TFT-LCD photomask production," said Sven Lofquist, president and CEO of Micronic Laser Systems AB. "This particular order further strengthens the long-standing partnership with one of our important customers."

The LRS11000-TFT3 has a resolution of 0.75 micron. Other key features of the LRS11000-TFT3 include a real-time datapath with higher capacity to match the increased pattern density that is a result of the higher resolution, improved linewidth control and pattern registration better than 120 nm. The tool also offers extended multi-beam functionality to maintain high throughput.
