SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, Oct. 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Reincarnation has become a more popular concept in recent years. Author and mystic Madgelyn Hawk allows readers to enter a world unlike the present one and discover the mysteries philosophers and religions have sought to answer for centuries. When the Mourning Dove Cries (now available through 1stBooks) is an autobiography of her past life and her present one as a mystic.
The title, When the Mourning Dove Cries, refers to a secret signal slaves on the plantation used to signify when one had escaped. Hawk's book is based on her own story of reincarnation that involves slavery and prophecy.
"I have researched the history of Belle Mead plantation and many people's names that lived during that period have repeated in my lifetime. I have been a mystic since birth and have taught and ministered since I was 15 years old. This book details my past life as a slave and then unusual life as a mystic," Hawk says.
The first part of the book delves deep into her past life as a 19th century slave named Maggie, who also happened to be a mystic visionary. Her mistress used her as her very own medium at the height of spiritualism. Maggie goes on to pursue her ability opening a church and a school.
The second part focuses on the experiences of the afterlife. Hawk says she wrote this section to teach about the "mansion world schools" of the afterlife, where the life just lived is explained and given meaning. The third part begins with the plight of Julia, the author's mother "in this life time." Hawk notes that she and her mother shared a life in the 1800s.
When the Mourning Dove Cries is a fascinating and provocative blending of historical fiction, past life regression and spiritual growth, which continues through lifetimes.
Born with the gift of prophecy, Hawk is an ordained minister and certified medium missionary. For three years, she wrote a metaphysical advice column in Indiana and had a radio talk show in Ohio. When the Mourning Dove Cries is her first book. Currently, she resides in Springfield, Ohio and is working on her second book.
