WEST BABYLON, N.Y., Oct. 27, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Columbia Bakeries (OTCBB:CBBS) today announced that it has undertaken a major expansion of its retail sales routes throughout Long Island, New York City and Westchester County following a successful test-marketing program in Northport, Long Island.
Mr. Dominick Calarco, General Manager of Columbia's Brooklyn Pastry Division, stated: "Over the past two weeks, Columbia has undertaken a test marketing program to retail outlets, independent groceries, delicatessens, mini supermarkets and retail bakeries in Northport, Long Island, a typical suburban community, representative of the many small communities in the Long Island, New York and Westchester areas. During this period we opened fifty-six new accounts in Northport. Each of the new accounts is taking a selection of our product line, including cookies, muffins, cheese cakes, bunt cakes, and pound cakes. Other marketing activity in adjoining communities resulted in our establishing a total of 156 new accounts during the two-week period.
