Poems as Frozen Images of Life - New poetry compilation examines life through poet's eyes

DALLAS, Oct. 27, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- In A Look Through My Eyes (now available through 1stBooks), Poet Anthony Austin pulls images from his past and expresses his feelings about those life situations with a unique and compelling writing style.

As a way to express his innermost thoughts and emotions, he writes about all aspects of his experiences. A former U.S. Air Force member and international firefighter, he offers his tributes in the first section to all those who served during the Sept. 11 catastrophe. He then moves on to discuss more personal ideas. His positive outlook on life prevails, even through poems about his trials in life. In "Either...Or," he writes about the choices people can make between leading a sorrowful life or one of happiness: "Either success or sorrow/Either continued misery or a better tomorrow/Either useless dreams or real success/Either giving up and stop trying or doing your best..."

"Blessings Come Down" also shows his hopeful perspective. "I want blessings to come down/Like rain showering from the sky/Hitting me at all angles/Leaving no parts of me dry/Covering the outsides of my body/And through my pores, soaking in/With me enjoying every moment/Wishing that it will never end..."

Austin writes about the struggles of daily life, today's strange society and battles with race in "A Wishful World." He writes candidly about past relationships with family and friends and concludes the book with several poems that fully illustrate the bounds of his imagination.

Austin, a Texas native, has worked as a firefighter in countries such as Spain, Germany, Kuwait and Marshall Islands. He is currently attending school to become a counselor.
