WHAT: Gene Wang, CEO of Bitfone will speak on Mobile from a Global Perspective at the Borland Conference in San Jose. Bitfone Corporation is a leader in over-the-air update technology for mobile phones and recently announced significant partnerships with IBM, Symbian, Motorola and SK Telecomm in Korea. Wang will describe the "coolest" international phones, discuss the technologies underlying these devices, outline the evolution of the major markets, and speculate on the largest opportunities for software developers of mobile applications. WHO: Wang has more than 21 years of experience in leading high-technology companies and has participated as the CEO in three startups. Prior to Bitfone, Wang was CEO and chairman of Photo Access, where he successfully sold its hardware business unit to Agilent Technologies in August 2000. Wang was also the CEO of Computer Motion, which he led through a successful IPO in August 1997. Previously, Wang was executive vice president at Symantec where he managed four divisions and helped that company grow from $172 million to $412 million in annual sales. Prior to this, Wang was vice president and general manager at Borland, where he helped popularize the C++ programming language, selling over one million copies. Early in his career, Wang was vice president of marketing at Gold Hill Computers. Wang received a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
