LINKOPING, Sweden, Nov. 12, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sectra, the Swedish IT and medical technology company, has received an order from Brystsentrum, a breast screening center in Tonsberg, Norway, for a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) dedicated to breast imaging.
Brystsentrum in Tonsberg is the first screening center in Norway to use digital equipment in a screening program for mammography.
"Sectra offers an open solution, allowing easy integration with other systems in the hospital, which is a great advantage," says Dr Einar Vigeland, head of the Mammography Department at Tonsberg Hospital. "We have made a thorough evaluation of a number of systems, and Sectra proved to be the one that best met our system integration and workflow requirements."
The order comprises a complete system for the processing and archiving of digital images (PACS), dedicated for to breast imaging. With the system, all necessary information, such as images and patient data, is made available at the diagnostic workstations. This permits for the radiologists to perform their work productively, cost-effectively and securely without compromising diagnostic quality or patient integrity.
