WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Nov. 25, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has promoted John C. Golombeck to vice president, engineering and manufacturing -- Western Region, operating from its Navigation Systems Division.

In this position, Golombeck will provide direct support to Dr. Alexis C. Livanos, vice president and general manager, Navigation Systems Division, and will have overall responsibility for the region's engineering and manufacturing. He will be responsible for engineering and manufacturing processes at subsidiaries and sites located in Toronto and Halifax, Canada; Freiburg and Heidelberg, Germany; Pomezia, Italy; Canton, Mass., and Salt Lake City, Utah.
Golombeck will lead -- from early concept, through development, to manufacturing and production -- all navigation and positioning systems and situational awareness products for international and domestic defense and commercial markets. He will support integrated avionics, navigation and positioning systems for space and high-value platform products, navigation-grade and tactical-grade inertial systems, fiber-optic gyro systems designed to customer requirements, underwater fiber-optic sensors, identification friend-or-foe transponders and interrogators, cockpit displays and computers, and logistic support products and services.
Golombeck joined Northrop Grumman in 1981 as an electrical engineer and has held a number of engineering management positions. Most recently, he served as director, Advanced Materials and Semiconductor Device Technology Center for Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems sector.
Golombeck earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He also completed the General Manager Development Program at Harvard Business School.
The Navigation Systems Division is part of the company's Baltimore, Md.-based Electronic Systems sector, a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of defense and commercial electronics and systems including airborne radar, navigation systems, electronic countermeasures, precision weapons, airspace management systems, communications systems, space systems, marine and naval systems, government systems and logistics services.
