BALTIMORE, Dec. 4, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- View Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:VYST) announced that it has received a nomination from the federal laboratory, Idaho National Environmental and Engineering Laboratory (INEEL), for the prestigious and selective R&D 100 Award. This award is limited to the best and most innovative product or technology developed at a national federal laboratory. To be considered as a National Level Nomination the product/technology must first be selected at the laboratory level. In the past few weeks View Systems' SecureScan portal was selected and nominated by INEEL for the National Award.
The R&D 100 Prestigious National Award was established in 1963, was established to pick the 100 most technologically significant products and the winners are picked by an outside panel of judges. Over the years the R&D 100 Awards have included names such as Polacolor (Polaroid), Automated Teller Machine, the Halogen Lamp, the Fax Machine, the Kodak Photo CD, the Nicoderm antismoking patch, Taxol anticancer drug, HDTV and many other new innovations. Judging is completed by late May and winners notified in July.
The key criterion for judging of the award is "technological significance". Some of the criteria used in the nomination process are things like "leap frog" gains not just incremental improvements. They look for additional things like the "wow!" factor or how did they do it?
