Tele2 Launches its Ninth GSM Network in Russia


NEW YORK and STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 5, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Tele2 AB ("Tele2") (Nasdaq:TLTOA) (Nasdaq:TLTOB) (Stockholmsborsen:TEL2A) (Stockholmsborsen:TEL2B), the leading alternative pan-European telecommunications company, today announced that it has launched a GSM-network in Kursk, its ninth in Russia under the Tele2 brand.

The population covered by the GSM-license in Kursk is 1.3 million and the region's mobile penetration is approximately 11%. The network in Kursk was launched using the GSM 1800 standard.
