Photo Release -- Planes of Fame Airshow 2004: History Takes Flight Over Chino this Weekend


CHINO, Calif., May 12, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Famous military aircraft past and present take flight over Chino Airport this weekend in the Planes of Fame Airshow 2004. Gates open at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16, at the airport located south of Highway 60 and west of Interstate 15.

The Air Museum Planes of Fame hosts the event which will feature the U.S. Air Force in aerial demonstrations with the F-16 Viper Jet and the U.S. Navy flying the F-18 Super Hornet. Museum pilots will be seen in such famous aircraft as the P-38 Lightning, the Corsair, Hellcat and the P-51.

The Museum's one-of-a-kind aircraft -- like the Northrop N9M Flying Wing, forerunner to the modern Northrop B-2A Spirit stealth bomber, and the rare Japanese Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Fighter from World War II -- will also be on display and in the air. In addition, a lineup of rare aircraft, classic cars and military vehicle displays is planned.

Proceeds from Airshow 2004 will be used for restoration, maintenance and housing of the rare airplanes. Full day general admission including parking is $15, youngsters 5-11 are $5, and children under 5 years old are free.
