WHAT: Sempra Energy is hosting the groundbreaking for the 550-megawatt Palomar Energy power plant, commemorating the start of the two-year construction project. Upon completion in June 2006, Palomar Energy will be the cleanest, most efficient power plant in San Diego County, capable of providing enough electricity for up to 550,000 area homes. Palomar Energy, LLC, is building the power plant as part of Sempra Energy Resources, the subsidiary of Sempra Energy that builds, acquires and operates power plants. Once the construction of Palomar Energy is complete, affiliate San Diego Gas & Electric will purchase, own and operate it. WHEN: Thursday, July 22, 2004 Event: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Lunch: 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. WHERE: All attendees will be shuttled to the Palomar Energy construction site from the California Center for the Arts Escondido (CCAE) main parking lot, located at the corner of Escondido Boulevard and Woodward Ave. Shuttles will depart in 10-minute increments, starting at 10 a.m. The last shuttle departs at 10:20 a.m. Shuttles will return to CCAE between 11:45 a.m. and noon. For safety reasons, no private vehicles we be permitted on site for this event. A buffet lunch will be served to invited guests in the CCAE Conference Center, Salons I and II.
