E Team Deployed at Sea Island G8 Summit and Reagan Memorial Services

Leading Incident Management Software Facilitates Public Safety Coordination and Info Sharing at National Special Security Events


LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- E Team, Inc., the proven, market-leading provider of collaborative software for crisis management, today announced that the E Team solution was deployed to coordinate public safety efforts and information sharing between government entities at the Group of Eight (G8) Summit on Sea Island, Georgia and President Reagan's memorial services in Washington, DC. Because of their scope and size, both events were designated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as National Special Security Events (NSSEs) and required heightened security efforts and close coordination between federal, state, and local agencies -- a core capability of the E Team system.

The Sea Island G8 Summit, held June 8 -- 10, 2004, brought together leaders of the world's major industrial economies, the Middle East, and Africa to discuss a variety of international economic, political, and security issues. Because of its designation as an NSSE, the Summit required intense planning and tremendous coordination among all federal, state, and local agencies involved in maintaining security during the event. The E Team solution, with advanced information management and system-to-system data sharing capabilities, was instrumental in ensuring reliable communications, overall situational awareness, and the secure exchange of information among many of these participating agencies, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA).

"The Department of Health and Human Services used the E Team solution as an integral part of its overall strategy to successfully complete its mission during the recent Sea Island G8 Summit," said Brent Guffey, Technical Manager of HHS Secretary's Command Center. "E Team helped HHS achieve real-time situational awareness during all phases of the event, track all available resources and assets, and share this information with other participating government agencies, thereby ensuring we were in the best possible position to respond to any health and human services issues that arose."

The E Team software was deployed throughout the region in key operations and command centers, including the Joint Operations Centers (JOCs) in Savannah and Epworth, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Atlanta, and the Forward State Operations Center (FSOC), Multi Agencies Command Center (MACC), and Intelligence Operations Center (IOC) on St. Simons Island. While each agency had a separate E Team system configured for its specific methods of operation and mission for the event, all systems were interoperable, allowing E Team-based participants to collaborate and share critical information and documents with one another.

Also designated as an NSSE, President Reagan's memorial services held on June 11, 2004 in Washington, DC required close collaboration among the numerous government agencies charged with securing the event. In addition to using E Team's tools for incident tracking and response, intelligence reporting and analysis, and resource and asset management to ensure the highest levels of readiness and response capabilities throughout the organization, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) also utilized the system to share security-related information and reports with over 24 federal, state, and local agencies, including the FBI, DHS, Secret Service, Department of Energy (DOE), and Capital Police.

"MPD has used E Team in its Synchronized Operations Command Center for over two years now, and it has helped us effectively coordinate public safety efforts at President Reagan's memorial services, the IMF protest demonstrations, and a variety of other high-profile events," said Erich Miller, Lieutenant, Metropolitan Police Department. "We also continue to find new ways to employ the system to improve our daily operations. MPD will soon use E Team's human resource management tools within each district to track total deployed personnel, on-duty skill sets, and other similar data to obtain a real-time picture of the Department's capabilities at any given time."

MPD currently uses E Team's human resource management tools to view and manage the location and movement of its civil disturbance units and other special operations resources. Through E Team's integration with Virginia-based ITspatial's three-dimensional modeling software, InterSCOPE(r), this information is presented using interactive, three-dimensional maps.
