SOLNA, Sweden, Aug. 25, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scribona sees new opportunities in an increasingly digitized world and is expanding its offering by gathering all sales of IT products in a single business area; Scribona. The new business area will deliver products and solutions ranging from server and storage solutions to digital consumer products. As of September 1 the Scribona Group will be organized in the two business areas Scribona and Carl Lamm.
The Scribona Group is undergoing a major renewal process and over the past year has sold and wound up operations in the former Scribona Brand Alliance business area, as well as carrying out extensive restructuring of operations in Denmark.
"Current trends in both technology and buying patterns show that the products and solutions sold in our current business areas are increasingly converging from both a customer and supplier perspective. With a more integrated organization we can strengthen our customer focus and more aggressively establish a position in new growth areas," says Tom Ekevall Larsen, CEO of Scribona. "At the same time that we enhance our offering of system products, for example with advanced server and storage solutions, our product range will be extended with digital products for both entertainment and personal communication.
"In addition, our customer focus will be clearly oriented towards small and mid-sized businesses where our product packages and services contribute to greater competitiveness for our partners," adds Tom Ekevall Larsen.
The merger will generate synergies in the form of both higher efficiency and lower costs. Annual savings are estimated at MSEK 25 and the synergies will be realized successively from the first quarter of 2005.
The new organization will be effective as of September 1, 2004. Starting in the third quarter of 2004 the Scribona Group will report on operations in the two business areas Scribona and Carl Lamm. Operations in Carl Lamm will not be affected by the change.
