NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Globix Corporation (OTCBB:GBXX) announced today that its Media Services Division is playing a role in the fight against breast cancer by providing online media presentation services for Sharsheret's national symposium on breast cancer. Sharsheret is a national organization dedicated to addressing the unique concerns of young Jewish women facing breast cancer.
Sharsheret and Globix will produce an on-demand Webcast of Sharsheret's symposium "Breast Cancer Genetics: Impact on the Jewish Woman and Her Family". The symposium will focus on the impact of hereditary breast cancer in young Jewish women and will explore the findings of the New York Breast Cancer Study that analyzed more than 1,000 women of Ashkenazi Jewish descent.
The symposium is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26th, 2004, at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City between the hours of 6:00-9:00 p.m. and will conclude with a question and answer session. The archived webcast can be viewed at: http://www.sharsheret.org/events.php after October 27th for 30 days.
"Globix media presentation services are empowering our organization with the ability to extend our reach to hundreds, possibly thousands of Jewish women around the world," said Rochelle Shoretz, Executive Director of Sharsheret. "It is fantastic enabling technology that will help Sharsheret spread our message during Breast Cancer Awareness Month."
"Webcasting is a very effective tool that has significantly improved the way in which we train and communicate today," said Ed Warner, General Manager of Media Services for Globix. "We're now seeing this technology being applied to heighten awareness on a variety of health and social issues in addition to its application as a corporate communications tool. We're pleased to work alongside Sharsheret in uniting people worldwide in the fight against breast cancer."
