LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- The monthly meeting of the Los Angeles chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) will feature a presentation by Patrick McGurn, senior vice president and special counsel for Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). The presentation will focus on the relationship between valuation risk and governance affecting public and privately held companies. The dinner program will be held on Thursday, November 18, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Jonathan Club, 545 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles.
Patrick McGurn is frequently quoted in business publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Business Week, and he has appeared on ABC World News Tonight, CNN and National Public Radio, among others. He graduated from Duke University and the Georgetown Law Center, and serves on the Advisory Board of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

The FEI's Professional Development Program, which will be held prior to the regular dinner meeting, presents Lynn Stout, Professor at UCLA's School of Law. She will present a seminar about the relationship between corporate governance, corporate control and economic valuation. The professional development program will start at 5 p.m. at the Jonathan Club.
At UCLA, Professor Stout teaches business and securities law. She is the Principal Investigator for the UCLA-Sloan Foundation Research Program on Business Organizations and a Trustee of the Eaton Vance family of mutual funds. She graduated from Princeton and Yale. Her essay, "Sometimes Democracy Isn't Desirable," appeared in August in The Wall Street Journal.
