NEW YORK, Nov. 23, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Globix Corporation (OTCBB:GBXX) announced that Alameda County Social Services (ACSS) has renewed its Web services agreement with Globix. Under the renewed contract, Globix will continue to provide application management, monitoring, database administration (DBA) support, and operating systems (OS) administration services for both the county's public citizen portal as well as its secure employee intranet.
Globix deployed the tailored Web solution for ACSS in January 2004. The Globix system has allowed county employees to better function at their jobs by making requisite information easily available and updateable. Efficiency gains include faster response times to residents, shared information via the staff intranet, and repurposed content throughout both sites. ACSS employees using the system include social workers, executives, program specialists, and every level of line and management personnel.
"In less than a year we've already witnessed outstanding results from the Globix system," said Jim Damian, Web Services Manager of Alameda County. "Globix understood our needs and created a solution that has served both our county employees and our constituents in an effective and easy-to-use manner. Their combination of technology expertise and management finesse has and will continue to allow ACSS to provide a greater level of service to our county residents." ACSS estimated that the new system would save the county upwards of $250,000 per fiscal year.
The ACSS content management system operates both the secure employee intranet, which consists of nearly 20,000 pages of policies, procedures, and forms, as well as its resident-facing Web content, including county services information and contacts. The Globix solution has automated and simplified the manual version and workflow processes and provides for considerably faster and smoother information updates.

Globix implemented a sophisticated content management system. The ACSS solution's technology infrastructure combines Microsoft .NET Web services production and Interwoven content management environments. Globix provisioned load-balancing management for a pair of Windows 2000 IS Web servers running Cold Fusion 6.1 enterprise edition application server. The front end consists of a pair of clustered MS SQL server 2000 enterprise-edition database server applications. The system is hosted in ACSS' internal data center, which Globix monitors and manages remotely.
