Lantronix's WiPort Achieves FCC Certification for 802.11 Wireless Networking

OEMs and Integrators No Longer Need Separate FCC Certification, Greatly Reducing the Time and Expense of Bringing Products to Market

IRVINE, Calif., March 1, 2005 - Lantronix(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:LTRX), a leader in device networking and data center management, has successfully received Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of its WiPort(tm) wireless embedded device server. This offers solution providers and OEMs automatic FCC approval for devices implementing WiPort, ultimately eliminating the need for companies to run specific 802.11b testing. In addition, partners, and companies seeking an embedded wireless networking solution, directly benefit from the significant cost savings and time associated with obtaining such certifications on their own.

"We understand the time and money constraints involved in obtaining certifications. Now users of our FCC certified WiPort product can implement a complete wireless machine-to-machine networking solution, and not have to worry about running the extensive testing processes themselves," said Daryl Miller, sr. director of engineering for Lantronix. "We anticipate this will significantly decrease time to market for customers embedding our wireless device-networking technology into their products."

The WiPort Difference

Lantronix's WiPort provides OEMs with the highest level of integration available in a device server, making it the conduit between the IT manager and the device. Residing in the WiPort's compact package is a DSTni x86 controller, multiple flash memory options, an 802.11b transceiver, a 10/100 Ethernet transceiver and dual high-speed serial ports. The device server enables access to a local network or the Internet, and integrates a fully developed TCP/IP network stack and OS. The WiPort also includes an embedded web server that can be used to remotely configure, monitor or troubleshoot the attached device. Installation and setup is simplified using the Windows(tm) based Device Installer configuration software accessed through a Web browser or using command line interface accessed locally through the serial port or remotely over a network using Telnet (password protected).

The FCC approval adds to Lantronix's growing list of certifications, demonstrating their continued commitment to providing world-class services and technology to partners and OEMs. WiPort is also the only device server with FCC certification as both a wired and wireless.
