George Van Dorn Joins Energy Conservation Technologies, Inc. to Head Quality Control and Production Supervision of Econ's HID Electronic Ballasts


BOULDER, Colo., June 28, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Energy Conservation Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:ENYC), a landmark technology company ("Econ"), is proud to announce the addition of George Van Dorn to oversee quality control and production of foreign and domestic licensees/joint venture partners as we begin to move towards final testing and initial production of our HID electronic ballast.

George Van Dorn has 30 years of senior manufacturing and management experience and direct line responsibilities in high tech electronics that encompasses Fortune 500 companies and small private organizations. He was responsible for global and domestic operations for such companies as Johnson & Johnson Corporation (New Brunswick, New Jersey); Singer Corporation (New York and New Jersey); Cochlear Corporation (Sidney, Australia & Englewood Colorado); Etta Industries (Boulder, Colorado); Assembly Fab Corp. (Denver, Colorado); Clinicom, Inc. (Boulder Colorado); Diasonics Corp./Fisher Imaging Corp. (California and Colorado).

Econ Chairman and Director of Engineering, Fazle Quazi stated that, "George and I have known each other for many years and he is a valuable addition to our company as we begin the transition from R&D to production. Energy Conservation Technologies, Inc. holds a patent for "Control Circuit for power factor corrected electronic ballasts and power supplies," granted on March 19, 2002. Additional patents pending to the U.S. patent office include inventions related to constant lamp power control and a new invention related to efficient heat transfer and a novel ballast housing design. Among others, the approved patent involves new and efficient methods for power factor corrections and controlling energy into bulbs and power supplies such as: computer servers, copy machines, compact fluorescent lamps, power supplies to the telecom industry, inverters used to convert DC power to AC power (120 Volts), automobiles specialty lighting, solar and wind power generators, and fuel cells.

Econ expect to apply a few more new patents this year. Econ's inventions and breakthrough design for electronic HID ballasts will revolutionize the ballast industry. The HID lighting industry is a $2 billion dollar annual market in the United States and over $10 billion on an international basis. Econ's HID electronic ballasts will be available at costs comparable to magnetic ballasts, reducing ballast weight at a factor of at least 5 and saving an estimated 35 percent of electrical energy over magnetic ballast usage.

Econ has also begun development of electronic ballasts for the new high-wattage compact fluorescent bulbs, by simply scaling down its existing designs for this purpose.

Econ is committed to keep its technology on the cutting edge of both the HID electronic ballast world and emerging developments for high power compact electronic fluorescent bulbs that will replace incandescent bulbs and in some cases HID bulbs used for flood lighting, gymnasiums, high ceiling applications and specialty and architectural lighting.

In addition to product developments, licensing and joint venture partnerships/discussions are in progress with a lighting manufacturer in Mexico and with a Fortune 500 company. We expect manufacturing of HID electronic ballasts, based on Econ's HID technology, the later part of this 2005.
